Inside THE 74’s New Panorama Club: An Elevated Retreat Above the Upper East Side

Some amenity spaces are designed for convenience and then there are others that genuinely feel transformative. At THE 74, Elad Group and Douglas Elliman Development Marketing recently unveiled the Panorama Club, a residents-only retreat perched on the building’s 17th floor with skyline views that stretch in every direction. 

Designed by internationally celebrated designer Rafael de Cárdenas, the Panorama Club was conceived as more than a collection of amenities. Instead, it feels like a private social club sitting high above the city, intimate and distinctly New York. 

Guests gathered for an evening unveiling complete with live music from the Richie Nuzz Band, passed hors d’oeuvres, wine and remarks from Caitlin Chagan, President of Douglas Elliman Development Marketing, New York, and John Albino, Managing Director of Douglas Elliman Development Marketing. 

Throughout the space, de Cárdenas’ signature design approach brings warmth to THE 74’s modern architectural feel, which subtly references New York’s Art Deco legacy. The residents’ lounge features custom sofas designed by Rafael de Cárdenas and a richly textured rug by Inigo Elizalde, creating a space that's sophisticated and inviting. 

The dining room centers around a custom marble wet bar, with a pair of vintage J.T. Kalmar “Tulipan” chandeliers hanging above that give the room cinematic lighting. This floor also includes amenities to help stay active, including a state-of-the-art fitness center with a dedicated Pilates studio alongside a children’s playroom. 

What makes the Panorama Club especially compelling is the way it adds to the experience of living at THE 74 beyond the residences themselves. Every detail feels intentional, designed for utility, atmosphere, conversation and everyday ritual.
